Posted

The Joel E. Barber C-5 School District added three new members to its school board on Thursday: Landon Hall, Brad Reed and Bruce Fulkerson.
The school board swore in Hall and Reed on Thursday first. Since they, the candidates running for school board, had matched the number of at-time vacancies exactly, the board was not required to run the candidates as a ballot issue in the April 8 elections. The board also appointed Bruce Fulkerson to fill the vacancy left by Robert Dale Christiansen’s resignation March 27. As Superintendent Rachelle Jennings explained, the vacancy had Fulkerson as the sole applicant, and the board could then decide to appoint him based on application or following an interview. The board appointed Fulkerson based on application and his prior experience with the board, and as noted on the district’s Facebook page, will serve the remainder of the vacancy’s terms for two years. The board then reorganized itself as follows: Melissa McCormick as Board President and MSBA (Missouri School Boards’Association) Delegate, Aaron Semsch as Vice President, Jean Domingue as Secretary, and Jodi Shoemaker as Treasurer, and Bob Hall as alternate MSBA Delegate. The board also in the course of its meeting showcased employee and student recognitions as well as discussion on the district’s wastewater plant.
