The Lebanon Lady Yellowjackets lost their basketball battle against the Nixa Lady Eagles on Thursday 85-56. This varsity loss was preceded by a junior varsity loss. Going into the match, the Lady Yellowjackets had a season record of 9-12 and had lost their last game against the Ozark Lady Tigers 63-36. The Lady Eagles had a season record of 18-3 and had won their last game against the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs 58-53. The Lady Eagles secured tipoff and the first points of the game seconds into the match, setting the tone for the rest of the night. During the middle of the period, the teams had a close scoreboard, but the Lady Eagles widened the gap by the end of the period. Nixa once again took the first points of the second period, and its offensives were successful against Lebanon’s efforts. By half time, the scores stood 54-27 in Nixa’s favor, though scoring from #44 Madison Myers, #32 Lilly Bradbury and #35 Mackenzie Perryman contributed to Lebanon remaining in the fight. During half time, the district inducted alumni Deonta Wade into the Lebanon Football Hall of Fame. Wade is now the head football coach at Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, Kansas.
