While readers might not expect someone to drive towards a hurricane, the Lebanon Department of Public Works mutual aid volunteer group, which consisted of foreman Rick Alexander, journeyman linemen Jordan Begley and Jacob Winterrowd and fourth year apprentice Shawn Allison, did just that.
Because Lebanon’s Public Works Department is part of the Missouri Public Utilities Alliance, a mutual aid organization, Winterrowd explained that the City of Orlando, Fla. through MPUA requested the organization’s assistance in recovery efforts after the then-incoming Hurricane Milton. “They needed help, and in the future, we need help too if something goes on,” Begley added. The Record sat down with the four-man crew to discuss their journey, with Electric Superintendent Travis Long providing additional context.
