Mary Irene Kilgore, 91, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
She was born May 2, 1931, in Joplin to Howard and Charlotte Moon Melton, who preceded her in death.
In 1951 she was married to Jimmie L. Kilgore in Calion, Ark.
After graduating from high school, Mary attended St. John’s Nursing School where she obtained her nursing degree. She worked for University of Missouri Hospital in the burn unit for many years until her retirement in 1992. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the Hughes Senior Center where she taught ceramics. Time spent with her family is what she treasured most.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Jimmie Kilgore; one son, Dr. Lon Kilgore of Halfway; two daughters, Jama Kilgore and her significant other, Jim Southard of Eldridge and Mary Avis Connard and her husband Delbert, also of Eldridge; five grandchildren, Bridgette Landell and her husband Jason of Kansas City; Tony Lipscomb and his wife Jennifer of Florida; April Lipscomb of Florida; Adam Kilgore of Bennett Spring, and Thomas Kilgore of Halfway; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Wright, Avis Marie Shipman and Chace Lipscomb; other relatives and many friends.
There is no service scheduled for Mary Irene Kilgore. Her body is to be cremated. There will be a burial at a later date at Fort Leonard Wood State Veterans Cemetery.
