Mike and Pam Gow begin retirement in their RV

Posted
Most RVers see their RV as their home away from home, but not so with Pam and Mike Gow. Their 30-foot 2021 Forest River Vibe travel trailer is their home away from the home they sold before living their retirement dream of seeing America on the open road. Their house had about 2,000 square feet of roomy comfort. In the RV, that number falls to about 185–200 square feet made somewhat smaller by their dog named Jager and their cat named Cat. Consequently, they had to make a few changes. "We had a huge yard sale, a huge dumpster, and then we put some stuff that we just wanted to keep in a storage unit," Mike said. They are pulling their Vibe with a 2021 3/4 ton Dodge Ram truck with a 6.7 Cummins diesel. With record high fuel prices, many might wonder if now is the time for travel. "When you think about it, it's only $30 more a tank full than it was a year ago or so. I actually get better mileage with this diesel than I did with my half-ton Silverado," he said.
