REV. BOBBY JOE KNAPP

Rev. Bobby Joe Knapp, 80, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at his home.

He was born May 3, 1942, near Sleeper, Mo. to Woodrow and Eva Decker Knapp.

On July 10, 1959, he was united in marriage to Lois F. McGuire, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Charlotte Anderson; and a brother, Don Knapp.

Bob lived most of his life in Laclede County, Mo. in the Lebanon area. He began working as a mechanic for the H.D. Lee Company, and then did propane sales. He worked in food delivery for several years, first for Holsom Bread Company and then for Frito Lay Company. Later in his life, he worked as a funeral director assistant at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. He was a people person who was always willing to help anyone in need. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and and was known as “Poppy George’’ by his family.

As a young man, Bob made a profession of faith in Christ and was baptized. He later became a minister of the gospel, which was his greatest joy in life. He had served as pastor at Sleeper Pentecostal Church, Trinity Full Gospel, Eldridge Full Gospel Church and Cole Camp Pentecostal Church. He dedicated his life to visiting the sick. He especially enjoyed gospel quartet music and even sang in some groups.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois of the home; a daughter, Beth Becker of Lebanon; a son, Steve Knapp and his wife Mary of Lebanon; a son-in-law, Brad Anderson; four grandchildren, Laramie Bowles and her husband Ryan, Janet Miller and her husband Richard, Tyler Knapp and his wife Jordan, and Travis Payne; six great-grandchildren, Garett, Bree, Scout, Parker, Claire, Chloe; a brother, Bill Knapp and his wife Betty of Lebanon; a sister, Joyce Hicks and her husband James of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Louise Brown of Moline, Ill. and Crystal Fisher of Lebanon; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Rev. Bobby Joe Knapp will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial will be at Hufft Cemetery in Eldridge.
