RICHARD ALBERT LEO “POTTS’’ HRDLICKA

Richard Albert Leo “Potts’’ Hrdlicka, 76, of Buffalo, died Friday Feb. 25, 2022.

He was born Jan. 9, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo. to Joseph and Helen (Ayers) Hrdlicka.

On Dec. 11, 1982, he married Carolyn Brandt in Salem, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, Michael and Robert; and foster granddaughter, Ashley.

Richard was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a specialist for the United States Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans No. 62 in Buffalo and enjoyed visiting and assisting with veterans whatever way he could. Richard was involved with many community organizations through his love of cooking. He was instrumental in starting the twice monthly breakfasts at Greasy Creek Store, benefiting local non-profit charities.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Troy Abmeyer and special friend Melissa Simpson of Buffalo; grandchildren, Stesha Abmeyer of Desoto and Kaden Abmeyer of Buffalo; one foster grandchild, Ashley Rhine; one brother, Joe and wife Joyce; special friends, Paul and Christina Arft, Mary Panzer, Richard Beavers, Dan and Cynthia Bush, and the family of Greasy Creek General Store.

Per Richard’s wishes, there are no services planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
