Robert Preston Potter, 80, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, in Lebanon.
He was born Aug. 28, 1944, in El Dorado Springs to Melvin Ray and Mildred (Shepherd) Potter Merchant.
On March 25, 1966, he was united in marriage to Glenda Agan.
Those preceding him in death include his father, Melvin Potter; his mother and stepfather, Mildred and Robert Merchant; and one brother, James, in infancy.
Robert worked as a machinist for Detroit Tool for thirty-nine years. He then began working as a brush cutter for Laclede County Road & Bridge, which he thoroughly enjoyed, until his retirement. He was a longtime farmer and cattleman. He loved to be outdoors and catered to all his animals. He could often be found tinkering and rebuilding things. He would rather work long hours repairing something old than to purchase something new. He was sentimental, meticulous and regimented, but above all he was loyal to anything he loved, especially his family. He loved them dearly.
Robert is survived by his wife Glenda; two children, Natalie Potter of Springfield, Mo. and Martin Potter and his wife Allison of Phillipsburg, Mo.; two grandchildren, Lauren Potter of Springfield, Mo. and Reed Potter of Phillipsburg, Mo.; one brother, Donald Potter and his wife Carol of the state of Arkansas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary and Earl Bowlin of Springfield, Mo., James and Connie Agan of Columbia, Mo. and Roger Agan of Lebanon, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
A graveside service for Robert Preston Potter will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at Lebanon Cemetery with Bradley Jemes officiating.
