STEVEN “BUBBLES’’ GEORGE GOGGIL

Steven “Bubbles’’ George Goggil, 72, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, in the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born Oct. 21, 1950, in Peoria, Ill. to Edward Emil and Elizabeth Mae Meyer Goggill, who preceded him in death.

On Nov. 10, 1995, he was united in marriage to Victoria March. He had two sons.

He was born and raised in Peoria, Ill. and attended Manual High School. He joined the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Marines he returned to Peoria. He made his home in the Peoria, Ill. area for the next few years working at various jobs including painting, working at Caterpillar and Butternut Bakery. He was a member of the American Legion and was an excellent sharpshooter. He received the following awards, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, and the Combat Action Medal. He had a big heart and was an outgoing family man.

“Bubbles,’’ as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by his wife of 27 years, Victoria of the home; two sons, Shane and Steve Goggil, both Illinois; two granddaughters; one brother, Walter “Butch’’ Coggil and his wife Cathy, of Mossville, Ill.; two sisters, Diane “Dino’’ Dorelle and Lisa Mann and husband Brian of Chillicothe, Ill.; a brother, Walter “Butch’’ Goggil and his wife Kathy of Mossville, Ill.; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

All services for Steven “Bubbles’’ Goggil will be private under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. A memorial has been established for the Disabled American Veterans or Wounded Warriors and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
