Ukrainian exchange student gives Rotary presentation on her country

Posted
For exchange student Khrystyna Pezshuta, what makes Ukraine special is its people, whom she describes as passionate builders. Pezshuta presented on her home country of Ukraine during the Rotary’s meeting on Thursday, speaking on the country’s cultural heritage and the Russia-Ukraine War. Pezshuta has lived with her host family, which includes Rotarian Magda Reagan, since Thanksgiving. As part of the Future Leaders Exchange Program, she will travel in March Washington D.C. to visit with policymakers and tour sites of American heritage. In the meantime, she shared about herself and the unique culture of Ukraine. The student first spoke about her family. She compared her relationship with her younger sister to that of her host sister, praised her brother and described her mother as her cheerleader. Pezshuta’s father is a pastor of a church that has been open since 1897, and she pointed out the aged icons that rest inside the building. For more on this story, see Saturday's LCR.
