Voters reject use tax proposals, elect school board members

Laclede County voters rejected use tax proposals from both the City of Lebanon and Laclede County in elections held Tuesday. Voters also elected school board members. According to unofficial results from the Laclede County Clerk’s Office, in the Lebanon R-3 School District, voters re-elected Amy Waterman with 1,217 votes and elected Krissy Jackson who received 1,120 votes. Other candidates on the ballot were Scott McCowan who received 986 votes and Craig Blair who received 867 votes. Laclede County R-1 (Conway) School District’s bond issue, which will fund facility improvements, including ADA accessibility in the high school’s gym, passed with 280 “yes” votes and 125 “no” votes. In the race for two seats on the Laclede County R-1 (Conway) School Board, the winners were Robbie Letterman with 220 votes and Sara E. Richardson with 200 votes. Also on the ballot were Ricky Savage who garnered 179 votes, Cody Massey with 96 votes and Tommy Lowder with 72 votes. The City of Lebanon’s use tax proposal, which would have collected a tax on out of state purchases, failed to pass. It received support from 45 percent of voters with 539 “yes” votes and 646 “no” votes. Laclede County’s use tax proposal was also rejected by voters, receiving support from 44 percent of voters with 1,209 “yes” votes and 1,569 “no” votes. Lebanon City Council members were re-elected with no opposition on the ballot. The re-elected council members are Mike Evans in Ward 1, Dan Mizell in Ward 2, Randy Wall in Ward 3 and Bob Garner in Ward 4. A total of 3,037 ballots were cast in the election.
