Bessie Lurena Ichord, age 91, of Villa Rica, Ga., formerly of Waynesville, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, in her home in Georgia.
She is survived by her two children, William L Ichord (Peggy) of Duke, Mo., and Connie Merckling of Villa Rica, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jonathan Ichord (Rebecca) of Success, Mo., Jessica Ichord of Duke, Mo., Mindy Wood (Aaron) of Temple, Ga., Matthew Merckling (Alexus) of Baxley, Ga., and Melissa Porterfield (Michael) of Villa Rica, Ga.; eleven great-grandchildren, Dean, Chole, Hayden, Isabella, Kayleigh, Breanna, Zoey, Dalton, Brody, Kinsey and Corbin; two sisters, Alice Perry and Stella Petra; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, in Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/ St. Robert. Burial will follow in the Big Piney Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in Memorial Chapel.
