David Leslie McFarland, 81, of Lebanon, Missouri died Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Lebanon, Missouri.
He was born May 13, 1945 in Lebanon, Missouri to Leslie and Phyllis (Elmore) McFarland.
On November 24, 1965 he was united in marriage to Toni Fowler.
Those preceding him in death include his parents; one sister, Helen Winkler; one nephew, Tommy Brackett; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Dixie Fowler; brothers and sisters-in-law, Janice Fowler, Jimmy and Judy Fowler, Terry Fowler and Jeff Fowler and one great-granddaughter, Summer.
David was a lifelong contractor in our community. He developed Whispering Oaks subdivision as well as he built countless custom homes. He also built several buildings in the area. He was a talented cabinet designer and builder, as well. He was a devoted family man and treasured each moment shared making memories.
David was saved as a young boy. He was an active and faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Over the years, he donated his time and talent helping with various missions including “Campers on Missions,’’ “Habitat for Humanity’’ and "Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.’’
David is survived by his wife Toni; three daughters, Rainey Beard and her husband John of Lebanon, Missouri, Julie Leadstrom and her husband Gary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Paula Brackett and her husband Wes, also of Lebanon, Missouri; one sister, Glenda Grace and her husband Ronnie of Lebanon, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Noah Gerke, Anne-Marie Twyford and her husband Jordan, Bryce Cole, Charlize “Charli” Cole, Samantha “Sam” Lombardo and her husband Jeff, Hayden Brackett and his wife Emily and Houston Brackett and his wife LeeAnn; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Emmett, Blaise and Lucy; brother-in-law, Steve Fowler of Lebanon, Missouri; sister-in-law, Jeri Evans, also of Lebanon, Missouri; his beloved dog and side kick, Sophie; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and countless friends.
Celebration of Life for David Leslie McFarland will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. There is no scheduled burial at this time. David’s wishes were to be cremated.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 until service time, also on Thursday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
