Donna Sharon Southard

Donna Sharon Southard, 81, of Windsor, Missouri, died Sunday morning, September 1, 2024, at Blue Hills Rest Home in Independence, Missouri.

Sharon was born on November 25, 1942, in Lebanon, Missouri, the daughter of Rosson Otto Warrington and Nettie Mae (Jones) Warrington. On February 5, 1961, she married Richard Arthur Southard in Lebanon, Missouri. Sharon and Richard enjoyed 63 wonderful years of marriage together.

Sharon graduated from Lebanon High School in 1960. After their marriage, she and Richard moved to Windsor. She enjoyed staying home while their children, Kim, Janette, and Kelly were young. Sharon worked at Taylor Bookkeeping until 1978. Then, she and Roberta Bryant opened The Greenery flower shop in Windsor, which they operated together for over 20 years. Later, Sharon worked at Clinton Flower Shop until her retirement. Sharon was a member of the Windsor Petal Pushers Garden Club and the First Baptist Church, where she served on the Flower Committee. She enjoyed being active in the community; she was a member of the former Jaycee Janes, Windsor Housing Authority Board, and Police Board. She also served on the Farrington Park Board and was the Windsor Chamber of Commerce Secretary for several years. Sharon was honored as the Windsor SeptemberFest Woman of the Year in 2010.

Sharon was an avid sports fan and followed both the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs as well as the St. Louis Cardinals. She also enjoyed watching college basketball. She attended many sporting events for her children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional baker, was extremely creative, and enjoyed puzzles. Sharon loved cats, especially her “Boots” and “Nugget”.

In addition to her husband, Richard, of Windsor, Missouri, survivors include a son, Kim Southard (Karla), Napoleon, Missouri; two daughters, Janette McSpadden, Lowell, Arkansas, and Kelly Seitz (Ken), Napoleon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Kelsi Southard, Amanda Danenhauer (Aaron), Sarah Brown (Josh), Bethany McSpadden, Jake McSpadden (Jessica), Cameron Seitz (Kirstie), Blake Seitz (Aleesha), and Mikayla Mershon (Jared); ten great-grandchildren, Casen, Asher, and Hayes Danenhauer, Henry and Axton Brown, Athena McSpadden, Nolan and Loretta Seitz, Vivian and Mia Mershon, two great-grandchildren on the way; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Emmert “Lee” and Barbara Warrington.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial was in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family received friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Farrington Park in care of the funeral home (405 E. Benton St., Windsor, MO 65360).
