Evelyn Mary Brewer, 94, of Lebanon, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Lebanon, Missouri
She was born November 11, 1931, in Marshall County, Iowa to John G. and Ethel (Sharp) Blattel.
On September 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Alvin O. Brewer.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband Alvin; four brothers, Earl, Howard, Carl and Leonard Blattel; two sisters, Blanche (Blattel) McKinstry and Florence (Blattel) Hightower; one stepson, Leon Brewer; niece, Linda Hoskins; and nephew, Johnnie Jennings.
Although her top priority was as a devoted homemaker for her family, Evelyn also worked outside her home. She was a seamstress for Rice Stix Factory for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her flowers, quilting, embroidery, traveling and playing BINGO. She loved all the history behind Route 66. She loved all things purple, and was lovingly referred to as “the purple lady,” by family and friends. She loved chocolate and coffee, which earned her second nick name “Aunt Coffee.” Prior to moving to Lebanon, while she was still in Kansas City, she was an active member of Eastern Star and League of Scottish Women.
She was a charter member of Community Baptist Church.
Evelyn is survived by two stepsons, Charles Brewer and his wife Marcella of Spring Hill, Kansas and Glen Brewer and his wife Betty of Trinity, Texas and their families; great-niece and caregiver, Hannah Andersen and her husband Jordan and their family; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; extended family and many dear friends.
Funeral services for Evelyn Mary Brewer will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Pastor Allen Reeves officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kansas, the following day, Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation.
