The Lebanon varsity football team claimed a final victory in its regular season against Waynesville on Friday before entering district play Nov. 7.
The Yellowjackets won against the Waynesville Tigers 56-7 at Waynesville Friday. With that victory under their belt, the team is first seed in districts and begins in the semifinals next week.
Going into the match, Lebanon had a season record of 4-4. Waynesville had a record of 0-9.
The Yellowjackets began their touchdown streak in the first quarter with #22 Brayden Christian and continued it for the rest of the first half. Waynesville earned zero points during that half as they continued to fight against Lebanon.
In the fourth quarter, however, the Waynesville Tigers brought a touchdown and follow-up extra point following an interlude over penalties. In the end, Lebanon still claimed victory.
With the last regular game of the season claimed as a victory and an updated record of 5-4, the varsity Yellowjackets do not play until Nov. 7 against the winner of Oct. 31’s Jefferson City (4-5) v. Camdenton (2-7)'s district quarterfinals match.
Members of the team have improved their stats this season, such as Cameron Rose setting a new school record for number of tackles in a game (31), which the Lebanon High School Football Facebook page noted was previously set by Lucky Randolph in 1970.
