Gloria M. Matheny, daughter of Thomas and Ruby (Mills) Marshall, was born December 19, 1933, in Long Lane, Missouri and departed this life October 14, 2026, in Naples, Florida at the age of ninety-two years.
On June 1, 1957, Gloria was united in marriage with the love of her life, Larry Matheny. Together they shared fifty-five years of love and joyous occasions while raising their two boys Tom and Terry.
Gloria worked hard to help contribute to her family's well being. She loved taking care of her boys at home and tending to their needs. During this time she also worked as a bookkeeper for several years. It was a job she thoroughly enjoyed.
In 1959, the family moved to the suburbs of Chicago where the family remained until Gloria and Larry retired. Upon retirement they returned to Lebanon, Missouri where they became snowbirds, spending the colder months at their home away from home in Naples, Florida.
In Gloria’s later years she did secretarial work. She worked for The School District #162 as well as Lincoln Mall Management.
Gloria was an exceptional player when it came to Tennis or Bridge. She loved baking and was said to make great pies and cakes. She was an avid reader and would often disappear into whatever story she was currently reading, however of all the things she loved in this life time spent and memories made with those she loved is what she cherished most.
Gloria leaves behind to celebrate her memory, her sons; Tom Matheny and his wife Brenda and Terry Matheny and his wife Maria; four grandsons, Gage Matheny and his wife Hannah, Sean Matheny, Bobby Hernandez and Nick Hernandez; one great-grandson, Bowie; other relatives and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband, Larry and one sister, Helen Siperko.
Gloria will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
