J.D. McGuire, 47, passed away December 10, 2025, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
J.D. is survived by his loving companion Brandy Matthews of the home; his father Jerry McGuire and his wife Trish; his mother, Nora Wiley and her husband Shannon of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister, Amanda Elbert (John) of Shreveport, La.; a brother, Shane Lafferty (Lindsay) of Mascoutah, Ill.; his paternal grandmother, Lorene McGuire of Lebanon; along with his nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clinton McGuire and his maternal grandparents, Virginia Holley and Wes Holley.
J.D. was an accomplished artist and a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute and the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.
He completed art projects in Kansas City, Missouri, Atlanta, Georgia, New York City, New York, Rahway, New Jersey, and Lebanon, Missouri.
J.D. has taught in Raritan Valley Community College, Centenary University and all six prisons in the state of New Jersey for Rutgers University.
He was teaching at the University of Wisconsin at the time of his death.
J.D. loved fishing and kayaking in the peaceful outdoors of Missouri where he spent his summer months.
J.D. is to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
