Patricia Ann Green, of Bixby, Oklahoma, was born August 24, 1942 to Paul Thomas and Fay Adeline (Walker) O’Brien in Peoria, Illinois. She passed away peacefully Sunday, March 1, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma following a brief illness at the age of 83 years, 6 months, 8 days.
Patricia (Pat) moved with her family from Peoria to Mattoon Illinois where she participated in Future Homemakers of America, Girl’s Athletics, and Band, playing the cornet, during her High School years. She graduated in 1960 and went on to earn an Associates Degree.
Pat was involved in the Mattoon Rifle and Pistol Club with her dad and brother, Tom. She served as a junior officer being elected as vice-president. Recently, while watching the Biatholon events during the Winter Olympics, Pat fondly reminisced about shooting her .22 bolt-action rifle in the prone, sitting, and standing positions.
Pat started her family in Mattoon with the arrival of Michael, Mark, and Marcia but job opportunities brought them to Lebanon, Missouri. She worked at the Garden Maid division of Detroit Tool & Engineering and was known as “The Garden Maid Lady” before moving to Empire Gas as a Secretarial Manager. Pat was well respected in her job and taught her children the value of hard work. In 1983, Pat met and married Willis Green and added his son Gerry to her family.
Pat was raised in a Catholic home as a young girl and while living in Lebanon, she gave her life to Jesus and was baptized at Second Baptist Church. Pat and Willis’ family continued to grow as their children married and then lovingly welcomed grandchildren. In 2006 Pat was given an opportunity to continue her career in the propane industry as a Property Manager for Energy Transfer Partners. This led her and Willis to Bixby, Oklahoma where she would work until her retirement at the age of 70.
Throughout the years Pat enjoyed sports of all kinds. She bowled in several leagues while in Lebanon but found her true passion when she was introduced to golf. Pat took the advice to learn to play right-handed even though she was a proud “leftie”. She excelled quickly in the game and became part of an elite group who could say they had shot a hole-in-one, not just once, but twice. First at Silo Ridge in Bolivar, Missouri in 1998 and then again at LaFortune Park Golf Course (Tulsa) in 2014.
Pat enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball and Oklahoma college basketball and softball, always with her Diet Coke in hand. She loved to cheer on her grandkids at sporting events and attend their school functions. Pat was known to host big family holidays with ample supply of her famous fudge, Chex mix, biscuits and gravy for breakfast and the best deviled eggs.
Pat was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by the many lives that she touched. She is survived by her children; Marcia Friel and her husband Tim of Battlefield, Missouri, Mark Alwardt and his wife Julie of Mounds, Oklahoma, Michael Alwardt and his wife Deborah of Lebanon, Missouri, and Gerry Green and his wife Jeannie of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren Emma Friel, Justin Alwardt and his wife Callie, Blake Alwardt and his wife Riley, Carter Alwardt and his wife Suzie, Thomas Alwardt and his wife Kylie, Caleb Alwardt, Faith Link and her husband Aaron, Eric Donofrio and his wife Leah, Cristen Green, Catherine Green, Nicolas Green and wife Camden; and her great-grandchildren Rhett (Justin), Addilyn and Sophia (Carter), Oakley and Amelia (Thomas), a baby boy coming in July 2026 (Faith), Andrew, Jocelyn, and Jaxon (Eric).
