SFC (Ret) William “Bill” Chester Petersen, 72 of Waynesville, Mo., a retired United States Army Sergeant First Class, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in his home.
He is survived by his wife: Melissa Petersen of the home; four children: Corie Ann Walston (Mike) of Farmville, NC, Shannon Johnson (Jay) of Dixon, Mo., Billie Jo Bean (Glen) of Springhill, Fla. and Amanda Swenson of St. Robert, Mo.; fourteen grandchildren: Caitlin, Christopher, Jacob, Tristin, Chelsea, Nathan, Kimberly, Barry, Cyler, Zaiden, Alma, Rilyn, Alyssa and Patrick; six great-grandchildren: Autumn, Ayrleigh, Ashlyn, Wynter, Morgana and Ares; three brothers: David, Martin, and Tom Petersen of the State of New York; two sisters: Mary of the State of Arizona and Cathy of the State of New York; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, Mo.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.
