The 229 Project began with Danny and April True tossing around ideas about what to do with a Downtown Lebanon building in their possession. They have been surprised at how the project has developed from that humble start.
“It was a little idea that kind of exploded,” April True said.
The 229 Project , announced on Sept. 2, is a nonprofit designed to provide financial and mentorship support to either a new or existing business determined through an application process. The name of the project comes from the address up for grabs: 229 West Commercial.
Having operated businesses since they were young adults, Danny True now runs True Construction, Inc. with his brother Gary, and April True operates True Wellness. After facing challenges to their businesses over the years, the Trues expressed a desire to provide the selected business with the tools they need to succeed.
