Arthur Dale “Art’’ Walter, 84, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Lebanon.

He was born September 19, 1940, in Taff, California to Fred and Viola Payne Walter.

Art was preceded in death by his parents.

On March 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Decker.

Art was a wonderful provider for his family. He was never without a job, even as a pre-teen, delivering newspapers door to door. The majority of his life, he worked in the oil industry. He was employed with Chevron Oil, retiring in 2004, prior to moving to Lebanon. In his free time, Art enjoyed playing cards, especially poker. He was also a gun enthusiast and desert rat. Time spent and laughter shared with his family and friends is what he treasured most.

Art is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Linda; one son, Larry Walter, also of Lebanon; one sister, Fredda (Walter) Carpenter and her husband Dean of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister-in-law, Joanne Lunsford of Grovespring; nieces and nephews, Steve Carpenter, Jeff Carpenter and his wife Tina and Chad Carpenter and his wife Michelle of Bakersfield, Calif., Scotty Jones and his wife Carol, of Rader, Rhonda Maroney and her husband Brian of Conway, Tammy Beasley and her husband Butch of Grovespring, Kim Perryman and her husband Wade of Grovespring, Reggie Bohannon and her husband Bryan of Grovespring and Eric Jones, also of Grovespring and their families; one cousin, Nancy (Walter) Doss of Idaho Falls; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Arthur Dale “Art’’ Walter were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Richard Prater officiating. Burial was in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation was 1:30 p.m. until service time, also on Friday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Memorials have been suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Tunnel to Towers. Donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
