City Council takes a second look at marijuana issue

November vote to ban sales may be called off

Posted
The Lebanon City Council appears to be having second thoughts about a November vote to ban non medical marijuana dispensaries in the city. The Council in January 2023 voted to hold the election in response to the legalization of non-medical marijuana in the State of Missouri, which was approved by voters in a November 2022 election. But at a work session meeting on city tax issues Monday night, Council members seemed open to removing the issue from the ballot. They pointed to the sales tax revenue brought in by marijuana sales, which now goes to anti-drug abuse efforts, and would be lost if the dispensaries were banned.
