Five candidates on the Republican ballot for eastern commissioner

Posted
Laclede County voters will face choices for three county offices in the Aug. 6 Republican primary election. Incumbent Assessor Julie Rayl-Gilstrap is facing a challenge from Brett Burroughs. Four candidates are challenging the current Eastern District Commissioner, David Layman in his bid for re-election. They are Adam Fries, David Miller, Laina Starnes and Erik Lindsey. Matt Frederick and Gregory Mattes are vying to replace Sheriff David Millsap. No candidates have filed for the Democratic primary, leaving the winners of the Republican primary with no likely challengers on the November general election ballot. The Record reached out to the candidates for assessor, eastern commissioner and sheriff for their responses to questions about their candidacy. Today’s article features responses from the eastern district commissioner and assessor candidates. Eastern District Commissioner candidate David Miller did not respond to requests for information for this article by presstime. For more on this story, see Wednesday's LCR.
