Lebanon High School senior Rudy Zevallos Jr. passed away this weekend after collapsing during a marathon on Saturday.
The Frog Hill Half Marathon and 10K and Leapfrog 5K announced on Saturday via Facebook that a runner collapsed at the finish line of their race and was unable to be revived at the hospital. Afterwards, their Facebook page confirmed that the runner was Zevallos.
“Please continue praying for the family of this fallen runner. Our hearts go out to them.” the group’s post said.
According to a message from his family on their GoFundMe page, “The exact cause of his death is unclear at this time, but we do know his body temperature reached a fatal level and his heart stopped.” The family has set up the GoFundMe account to help with funeral service costs at “In Memory of Rudy Zevallos Jr.: Donate to Funeral Costs.” As of Tuesday morning, it had raised more than $20,000 from 215 donations.
