Robert Dale Christiansen gave an Alford plea of guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault Tuesday morning.
Christiansen entered the plea after his case was remanded (sent back) Monday to the associate court (according to one of his Casenet files).
He was originally charged felony domestic assault in the third degree in March 2025.
Christiansen entered the plea on Tuesday for the charge of the class A misdemeanor domestic assault in the fourth degree, first or second offense, according to the misdemeanor case filing on Casenet.
In an Alford plea, the defendant has a registered formal admission of guilt towards charges in criminal court while also expressing innocence towards those same charges, according to Cornell Law School’s Legal Information Institute.
He entered the plea, according to the misdemeanor case filing, pursuant to a state-offered negotiated plea that the court approved and entered as its final judgement.
Christiansen, according to court filings, received a suspended imposition of sentence with supervised probation with set conditions for two years. The punishment range for a class A misdemeanor is both or either a fine not to exceed $2,000 or imprisonment not to exceed one year in the county jail or authorized penal institution, a court document noted.
Costs and or fines were paid in full, according to the misdemeanor case filing.
