Feb. 24’s Laclede County Commission meeting recognized a long-serving volunteer with the county’s Office of Emergency Management.

The County Commission recognized Joe Price, who OEM Director Randy Rowe said has served in a volunteer capacity for 10 years and six months, with an Above and Beyond Volunteer Award.

The commission also approved the memorandum of understanding between the City of Conway and the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office for the former’s Conway zone deputy during the meeting.

Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst explained that Conway will pay $36,000 annually for the deputy and that the county will pay the remaining benefits and salary.

The commission also paid the county’s $200 membership dues for the Lake of the Ozarks Major Case Squad.

They also approved paying up to $575 to the Phillipsburg Community Development Council for a dumpster rental to use for their annual cleanup day.

For the county’s road and bridge department, the county approved the bids for a 16-foot limbsaw and extra blade from Limb Buster for $15,173 as well as a 34-foot trailer with dual tandem axles for $30,576 from Mouser Steel Supply (if not exempt from the federal excise tax).

The commission also planned to hold a road and bridge staff meeting at the conclusion of the agenda items, which the Record did not stay for.

Angst later said discussed items included the Kentucky Road aluminum box culvert and placement of rocks allocated from the Missouri Department of Conservation connected to conservation accesses.
