A man faces charges after allegedly brandishing a bow and arrow against a Lebanon police officer and a knife against another person on Monday.
Wesley Howard Gilbert, of Lebanon, faces two felony charges of the unlawful use of a weapon (subsection 4, exhibiting), according to a Casenet filing. According to the probable cause statement, the charges come following his alleged brandishing of weapons against two individuals.
The probable cause statement said the reporting LPD officer had responded to a report of a man having drawn a knife and walked towards a woman at a store following a contentious interaction involving dogs.
The man had left the store, the probable cause statement said, and another officer had located a man matching the description. When the reporting officer arrived at the address, the defendant allegedly turned a bow and arrow, which he had allegedly been shooting at a mattress, towards the officer.
The probable cause statement said that following an attempt to enter a vehicle, the defendant had allegedly dropped to his knees in front of the vehicle. Because the reporting officer thought he might have a knife and had previously pointed the bow at him, the officer tased the defendant in the lower back.
During a search of the defendant, the officer reported in the probable cause statement that he had found a fixed-blade knife in a sheath on the right side of the defendant's body.
According to the defendant’s Casenet filing, he entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday. His bond hearing is set for Jan. 5 at 9 a.m.
