The Lebanon City Council last week gave preliminary approval to new ordinances involving nuisance violations and people camping outside in the city.

At a meeting last Monday, the Council gave first reading approval to an ordinance that would allow city personnel to obtain warrants for administrative functions, such as inspections or abatement of nuisance violations. The ordinance will have to be voted on and passed a second time before it takes effect.

Police Chief Jerry Harrison said the proposed ordinance would also give the city the authority to use the warrant process to seize property, such as a pile of clutter.
