Shirley Ann Hale

Shirley Ann Hale, age 81, of Springfield, Missouri, was born April 26, 1943, in Dixon, Missouri, the daughter of Walter Lincoln Helton and Nora Ann (Rowden) Helton. She passed away on August 4, 2024, in Springfield. Shirley grew up in Lebanon, and was a 1961 graduate of Lebanon High School. During her working career Shirley was a successful realtor at the Lake of the Ozarks. In 1980 she and Larry Hale were married in Tarkio, Missouri.

Shirley was fun loving and full of life, and revelled in telling a great story. Energetic and caring, Shirley’s love for her Lord and family showed in all she did. Baptized at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon, her recent membership was with Hopedale Baptist Church in Ozark. She loved music and always looked forward to singing in the choir. Even after it was hard for her to travel very far, Shirley sewed baby blankets for the Pregnancy Care Center.

Survivors include: three daughters and their husbands, Leslie and Kelly Smith of Columbia, Missouri; Stephanie and Kalvin McIntosh of Rocky Mount, Missouri; and Vicky and Eric Carter of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Meagan Glascock, Savannah Buckman, Kenneth McIntosh, Tyler McIntosh, Tristan McIntosh, Trevor Carter, and Nathan Carter; great-grandchildren, Chase Glascock, Avery Glascock, Maddox Smith-Monaghan, Birdie Buckman, Noah McIntosh, Ezra McIntosh, and Abbigail McIntosh; two brothers, Kenneth Helton and wife Vicki of Lebanon, and Victor Helton of Lebanon; a niece, Christine Hutchings; and dear family members Brenda and Mike Kenagy, their daughters, Brandy and Cassidy, and families.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, her parents, a brother Robert Helton and sister, Betty Helvey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 9 at Hopedale Baptist Church, Ozark, with Pastor Mark Arnold officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Friday until service time. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Cemetery, Laurie, Missouri.

Memorial donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Pregnancy Care Center, 1342 East Primrose, Springfield, MO 65804.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
