Emergency management director reports on current operation

Laclede County’s Office of Emergency Management presented an update to the county commission earlier this month.

At the Oct. 6 meeting, Randy Rowe, Director of the Laclede County OEM Office, said the county's five monitored weather stations are fully operational ahead of the fall severe weather season. Semi-annual maintenance on storm sirens is scheduled for this month. Recent lightning strikes at the Stoutland siren required repairs, which were completed internally, saving the county from outsourced repair costs.

Addressing the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG), Rowe confirmed that federal funds are currently held at the state level, but said his office’s budget is stable.

Relaying information from the SEMA conference, Rowe reported that the region is projected to experience a very dry but extremely cold winter.
