LifePoint West Church showed their support for Joel E. Barber’s very first homecoming football game by projecting a large “GO BUCKSKINS” message on the east side of their building.
The projection faced westbound traffic on State Highway 32 at the turnoff heading toward Joel E. Barber. Wes Benham is the Youth Group Leader at LifePoint West and the organizer of the projection on their building.
In an email sent to the Record, Benham said, “LifePoint West volunteers will be at the Homecoming game providing free face painting for students.” He later said, “The face painting was a huge hit,” and the LifePoint West volunteers enjoyed handing out free movie tickets at the game.
“Our goal is to simply encourage the students and let them know that their local community is behind them on Homecoming night,” Benham said. “We see it as an opportunity to celebrate the students.”
Although the team lost to difficult competition, they played hard beneath the stadium lights against Carver Middle School Thursday night, October 15th. The Buckskins will be playing against St. James Middle School at St. James High School stadium on October 22nd.
