Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley stopped in Lebanon Wednesday night to stump for votes in his run for the United States Senate.
“This race is about whether we can save our country — that’s what it comes down to. That’s what we voted for in 2016, we voted to save this country and that’s what we’re voting for now. The liberals have come after Donald Trump and he stood up to them, they came after Brett Kavanaugh and he stood up to them. Now it’s our turn to stand up to them and say, ‘We’re going to save this country no matter what,’” Hawley said to a crowd of more than 60 people at the new Agriculture Legacy Center at the Laclede County Fairgrounds.
Hawley likened his race against Sen. Claire McCaskill, who is the incumbent, to a “battle” for control of the United States Senate. He referenced President Donald Trump’s recent campaign stop in Springfield. During Trump’s endorsement of Hawley, he referred to the Missouri Senate race, saying “It’s going to come down to us… How we vote is how the Senate is going to go and that means how we vote is how Congress is going to go and that means how we vote is how the country is going to go,” Hawley said.
