Involuntary manslaughter case bound over

In May, Meagan Henville, a Lebanon resident, was accused of committing involuntary manslaughter in the first degree. Her case has recently been bound over into the Circuit Court of Laclede County, Missouri.

Henville was charged with a Class C felony of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree, which recklessly resulted in a death; a Class D felony of operating a noncommercial motor vehicle while unlawfully using an electronic communication device, causing a death; and a Class C misdemeanor of failure to stop.

According to the probable cause statement released in July 2026 by the Lebanon Police Department, Henville had collided with a minibike driver after rolling through an intersection on May 23rd, 2026. The probable cause statement said the Lebanon police officer who was dispatched to the scene found Joey Groves, the minibike driver, lying in front of Henville’s vehicle in the intersection.

In the statement, the officer said he performed chest compressions until Fire and EMS arrived to take over, but said Groves was pronounced deceased at Mercy Lebanon.

According to the probable cause statement, Henville allegedly said she did not see Groves and only noted a red Jeep pass in front of her before she entered the intersection.

According to judicial circuit court documents, a warrant was issued for her arrest in late July. Henville was out on a personal recognizance bond with her arraignment hearing scheduled for August 10th. She pleaded not guilty at the hearing, and a preliminary hearing was set for October 16th.

At the preliminary hearing, the Court found probable cause to believe a felony was committed, and Henville is scheduled to appear in the Circuit Court of Laclede County, Missouri for arraignment on the 2nd of November.

This is still a developing case, and Henville has not been convicted of these charges.
