Monty Hugh West, 59, of Lebanon, died Friday, July 22, 2022, in Springfield.
He was born July 18, 1963, in Stuttgart, Germany to Everett “Buck’’ and Anita Marie Hogue West.
On Oct. 30, 2010, he married Jessica McGuire.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clint West.
Monty graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1981. For the past 15 years he has worked as a postal carrier. He was a wonderful cook, specializing in making cheesecakes. He was a talented woodworker and carpenter, an all around “handy man,’’ according to his family. He loved his dog Simba’’ and treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of Unity Freewill Baptist Church, where he also worked with teens and was the Sunday School Superintendent.
Monty is survived by his wife Jessica; three children, Tonya Miller and her husband Bobby of Lebanon; Victoria Martin and her husband Kyle of Palmyra, Mo. and Josh Williams of Lebanon; three sisters, Carla Scurlock and her husband Tim of Windyville; Cathy Case of Pleasant Hope and Tami Wurtz and her husband Chris of Hermitage; three grandchildren, Isabella, Peyton and Paxton; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Monty Hugh West will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
