A Lebanon woman was reportedly shot and killed in her home Friday night. Her alleged murderer is now behind bars facing a pair of felony charges.

Mark Tampow, 61, of Lebanon, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of 53-year-old Brenda Rogers of Lebanon, according to the Lebanon Police Department.

Police were called to a home in the 500 block of Polk Street at about 6:37 p.m. Friday for a report of shots fired inside a residence. The investigation that followed revealed that Rogers “was a victim of homicide,” the police said in a statement released to the media Saturday afternoon.

The police say the alleged murder was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

The LPD was assisted in the investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Tampow is in custody at the Laclede County Jail with his bond set at $100,000 cash-or-surety, according to the police. At press time, no case details had been updated online.

The Laclede County Record will report more information as it becomes available.
