Posted

Barbara D. Williamson, age eighty-six, was born November 5, 1937, to Oliver Bradford and Bertha Bowen in Eagle Rock, Missouri. She passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon.

Barbara spent her early years in Cassville, Missouri before moving with her father to California. She graduated from Pasadena High School and continued to live in California for several years. In January of 1954, she married James Williamson. To this union, four sons were born. They shared over forty-two years of marriage before he passed away February 11, 1997.

During their marriage, they moved back to Missouri and made their home in the Mt. Vernon and Aurora, Missouri area before returning to California. Ultimately, they returned to Missouri in 1980. Barbara retired in 2005, and moved to Lebanon, Missouri to be near her son and his family.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart. She was a Christian woman who enjoyed serving God and sharing God’s love with her family and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; and her son Michael Williamson.

She is survived by three sons, Rick Williamson and his wife, Helen of Victorville, California, Ronnie Williamson and his wife, Sherry of Pleasant Hope, and Scott Williamson and his wife, Brandy of Lebanon, and three grandchildren that she adored, Lisa, Tyler and Klay.

Barbara enjoyed bird watching, but her greatest joy was her family.  She looked forward to spending time with them. One of her greatest joys was playing “Taxi” for her grandsons, Tyler and Klay. She took them wherever they needed to go. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose kindness and encouraging nature was rooted firmly in her Christian faith. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, in Summit Cemetery at Mt. Vernon with Rev. Gary Gilmore officiating. A memorial to the VFW #4107 has been established and donations may be made through the funeral home.
