R-3 School Board recognizes Shepherd's Pack as difference Makers

Posted
The Lebanon R-3 School Board celebrated Shepherd’s Pack as July’s Difference Makers, listened to a presentation on the district’s Continuous School Improvement program and looked ahead to school events in August at its meeting Tuesday. Shepherd’s Pack is a local organization that prepares weekend food bags for students in need. Superintendent David Schmitz and the board recognized Susan Atteberry, Ron Atteberry and Cindy Walters for their organization’s contribution to students’ food security. “Over the past 17 years, we estimate tens of thousands of kids have been given a meal, on the side and so that we don’t embarrass them,” Schmitz said. “I just want people to know that Difference Makers in our community are helping our young people to be at school and have their basic needs met.” During board business, the board approved several consent agenda items, which are approved in bulk. Afterwards, the board approved its tax rate hearing for August 13. For more on this story, see Saturday's LCR.
