Betty Lou Holloway, 85, of Richland, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, in Springfield.

She was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Laclede County to Floyd Gilbert Marks and Alpha Jean Gage.

On Jan. 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Roy Junior Holloway.

Betty Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy Junior Holloway on Aug. 8, 2018; one son, Michael Holloway; two brothers, Bud and Jim Marks; one sister, Jean Eby and her husband Dick.

She spent her childhood in Laclede County and attended Ivey School. Although her top priority was tending to the needs of her family, she also worked outside her home. She worked for Rice Stix, H.D. Lee and eventually for Play Craft Boats for several years. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and tending to her flower garden. However, nothing compared to the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, she adored them.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Teresa Welliver and her husband Dave of Mason, Ohio, Tammy Holloway and her wife Teri King of Drake, Colo. and Lisa Wagner and her husband Ralph of Richland; daughter-in-law, Shelly Holloway of Richland; one brother, Bill Marks and his wife Irma of Lebanon; one sister, Della Hage and her husband Russell of Richland; sisters-in-law, Joann Marks and Betty Marks, both of Lebanon; nine grandchildren, Airin Holloway, LaShelle Smith, Micheal Stubblefield and his wife Rachel, Jared Holloway and his wife Kensey, Jewel King-Flores, Jayden Wagner, Leann Schneider and her husband Kevin, Lindsey Welliver and Dean Welliver; 13 great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Macy, Meeka, Ryker, Anakyn, Kaydence, Kylie, Kodie, Kepka, Charleigh, Jordyn, Peyton and Gracie; two great-great-grandchildren, Ace and Daphne; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Reverend Larry Chaffin officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Betty have been suggested to the American Heart Association. Donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
