City's sales tax on pot to help fund DARE, treatment court

Posted
Sales tax revenue from the sale of marijuana in Lebanon will help fund efforts to prevent drug abuse. At its meeting Monday, the Lebanon City Council adopted an ordinance that sets aside 25% of the city’s 3% sales tax on adult-use marijuana to fund DARE and other police efforts to prevent drug abuse. The ordinance will allow 75% of the sales tax revenue to be dedicated to the Laclede County Treatment Court. According to the resolution, the sales tax revenue has exceeded the expenses of the DARE program. For more on this story, see Wednesday's LCR.
