Connie “Jan’’ Winterrowd

Posted

Connie “Jan” Winterrowd, daughter of Perry and Beulah Plunk Smithers, was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, on May 5, 1960. On Monday, July 22 2024, Jan ran into the arms of Jesus at the age of 64 years.

At the age of 8, to the tune of “Just as I am”, Jan gave her life to Christ. Her twin sister wasn’t far behind. In the words of Ann, “we did everything together.” They were baptized Easter Sunday 1968.

A few years later, when she was 16, Jan went on a blind date with Doug. Later that night he exclaimed, “That’s the woman I’m gonna marry.” On September 22, 1979, that’s what they did.

Jan was a super hostess: the farm served as a year-round gathering space for friends and family. Deer and turkey seasons were especially  popular times for visitors, and when most extended family have their fondest memories with her.

Jan was a devoted farm wife. She helped things run smoothly and knew where to find anything. Her chocolate chip cookies kept cattle working days bearable.

Jan worked for 19 years in the Lebanon R3 school district in the cafeteria. She spent the majority of those years at Maplecrest.

Jan was in the most fun era of her life; serving as the best Nana in the world for the past 8 years. There were lots of tea parties, baking lessons, fun farm chores, and snuggles. Her grandbabies were the light of her life. She spent her time without them curled up with a good book.

She is survived by:  her husband, Doug, of the home;  sons:  Jared Winterrowd and wife Megan, Jeremy Winterrowd and wife Bailee, and Jacob Winterrowd and wife Elle, all of Lebanon; grandchildren:  Blaise, Gene, Frances, Dove, Stevie, and Henry; her twin sister, Ann Warman, of Lebanon; sister Dee Stewart and husband Mark of Pontotoc, Mississippi; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents and one sister Camille Conley.

Her family is lost without her, and cannot wait to be reunited with her in heaven.

A memorial service for Jan Winterrowd will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Rev. Landon Justice officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
