Maxine Lawson

Maxine Lawson, 96, of Lebanon, died Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Springfield.

She was born June 4, 1928, in Eldridge, Mo. to Gladys Gregory.

On March 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to Farmer Pete Lawson.

Maxine was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Nellie Gregory, who helped raise her, by her mother, Gladys Gregory, by her husband, Pete Lawson; by two brothers, Gene and Floyd Pulley, and by two sisters, Faye Baker and Leona Pulley.

Maxine graduated from Lebanon High School in 1946.After graduation, she soon began working at various café’s in the Lebanon area.  Later she was employed with State Bank and became a loan officer.  Lastly, she was employed with a finance company in Lebanon. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard on their beautiful farm near Lebanon, attending horse shows, talent shows and Lee Mace’s Ozark Opry, with her husband Pete. 

Maxine is survived by a special niece and caregiver, Debbie Price and her husband Rick, of Roach; her sister, Bennie Johnson and her husband Gene of Lebanon;  her brother, Harold Cleland and his wife Linda, of Lebanon;  several other nieces and nephews including, Eddie Cook, Bob Pulley, Johnny Pulley, Joy Stevens, Linda Emery, Jerry Pulley, Jimmy Wallander, Brad Cleland; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Rick Hill officiating. Burial will be in Hufft Cemetery near Eldridge. Visitation for Maxine will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, prior to service at 11 a.m. at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Memorials have been suggested in memory of Maxine to Hufft Cemetery. Donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, 1001 N. Lynn or P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
