Ronald Young, a devout servant of God and a pillar of leadership in the farming community, peacefully passed away on November 13, 2023 at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, commitment to family, and dedicated service to the agricultural fields.

Born in 1935 in Lebanon, Missouri, Ron’s journey began on the family farm, where he cultivated not only crops and a fledgling dairy herd, but also a deep-rooted passion for agriculture. He pursued higher education at the University of Missouri, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science in 1957 and later a Master’s Degree in Dairy Science in 1967.

In 1955, Ron married the love of his life- Martha. They began an incredible journey of faith and enduring love. They were blessed with two incredible daughters, Elaine and Marilyn, three cherished grandchildren- Rebecca, Grant, and Mikayla, and two great grandchildren- Carter and Elle. Martha, a devoted school teacher in Ozark, stood as Ron’s steadfast partner throughout his dynamic career and life. After 68 years of marriage together, she preceded him in death in August of this year. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his three siblings- Jerry Young, Karen Agan, and Joan Tooley.

Ron’s commitment to service extended beyond his agricultural pursuits. Volunteering for the U.S. Army in 1957, he later earned a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Missouri National Guard. His military service reflected his sense of duty and dedication to a cause greater than himself.

Ron took over and expanded his family’s dairy farm in Lebanon. Managing the farm while also acting as the Agricultural Extension Agent for nine counties in Southwest Missouri stands as a testament to his dedication and hard work. He was known for his practical experience and knowledge of on-farm issues and was often sought after as a lecturer on dairy practices. Beyond the farming community, Ron’s commitment to service extended further as he took on roles as a member of the Christian County Farm Bureau, Ozark Park board, past president of the Ozark Missouri Rotary Club, an active participant in the National Association of County Agriculture Agents, & Missouri Extension Association.

Ron’s journey of faith was interwoven with his professional endeavors. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Ozark, he served in various capacities, including as a youth leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Chairman of the Board of Deacons. His faith in God was a guiding force that shaped his character and actions.

Ronald Young’s life epitomized faith, family, and service. His legacy is not just in the farms and families that he helped support, but also in the hearts he touched. As we remember Ronald Young, we celebrate a life well-lived, guided by a deep faith in God and a commitment to service that will continue to inspire generations to come.
