Alec Clyde Briggs, 63, of Rogersville, died Thursday, May 27, 2021, in Rogersville.

He was born Oct. 24, 1957, in New London, Ohio, to Wesley Eugene and Dorothy Lucille Newberg Briggs.

On Feb. 14, 1997, he married Cathy Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Terry Briggs; one sister, Beverly Masters; and one nephew, Chad Briggs.

Alec attended and graduated from Seymour High School. After graduation, he worked on the family farm for several years. In 1983, he became employed with Gator Products. He was passionate about cars including classic cars and hot rods. He also loved to travel. However, he most treasured time spent and memories shared with his family.

Alec was a member of South Haven Baptist Church for many years. Most recently he had been attending North Point Church for several years.

He is survived by his wife Cathy of the home; children, Ashley Clark and her husband Tyler of Elkland; Jaime Lopez and her husband Kennon of Fort Hood, Texas, and Scott Duncan and his wife Christy of Peoria, Ariz.; two brothers, Jerry Briggs and his wife Marilyn of Strafford, and Kurtis Briggs and his wife Suzann of Tazewell, Tenn.; two sisters, Joleen Chance and her husband John of Wooster, Ohio and Leann Jelks and her husband Jason of Greensboro, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Kinsey and Kamryn Clark, Payton, Taylor, Orion, Kieran and Merryn Lopez, Madison, Ayvah and Charli Duncan; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Ayven; sisters-in-law, Debbie Kuhlman and her husband Ed of Slidell, La.; Amy McMurry and her husband Andy of Hickory, N.c. and Judy Briggs of Loudonville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends

A Celebration of Life for Alec Clyde Briggs will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
