Betty Lou (Slavens) Swanigan, 91, of Marshall, formerly of Tunas, was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Ira, Mo. to Freeman Harrison Slavens and Oma Ethel (Clemons) Slavens. She died Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, in The Living Center in Marshall. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Simmons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church in Tunas with Pastor Tony Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Tunas, under the direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be held the hour prior beginning at 10 a.m. until service time.
