Charles “Dwight” Moody, age seventy-six of Stoutland, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, in his home.
He was born to the late Adrice Moody and Ethel Langston Moody on September 11, 1947 in Grovespring.
Dwight grew up in the Lebanon area, but enjoyed spending time in the country with his granny. He attended Lebanon Schools.
He was a truck driver for nearly fifty years. He was a kind hearted person and a hard worker. He logged millions of miles, including thousands of miles with his dog, Angel.
Dwight is survived by his children, Kendall Moody of Springfield, Caleb Moody and wife, Courtney of Eldon, Kristen O’Connell and husband, Tim of Kansas City, and Kimberly Benz and husband, Marc of Lebanon; three siblings, Cynthia Ann Moody Gibson and husband, John of Lebanon, Carl Dickens and wife, Denise of Sunrise Beach, and Wayne Dickens and wife, Glenda of Conway; nine grandchildren, Kole Hardesy, Layton Moody, Adrice Moody, Charley Moody, Claire Williams, Kendall O’Connell, Declan O’Connell, Jill Benz, and Zac Benz and wife, Takeela; and two great-grandchildren, Leah Grace and Brayli Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his wife Tammy, and his great-grandson, Bryson Allen.
Dwight was known as an outlaw legend as a trucker. He loved driving through Pennsylvania, but loved coming home more. He supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for many years and was proud to be able to do that.
Dwight had so many interests. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and watching hummingbirds. He also liked model cars, especially Corvettes, and he liked motorcycles, horses, and hunting. He prayed often. His life was colorful and he knew a lot about a lot of topics. He had stories for days and when you were with him, it was never boring.
He was a sharp-witted man who brought humor to every situation. He would use his quick wit to comfort and enlighten and has made an eternal impact on many lives. Though he may no longer be physically present, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. A memorial to Cox Cancer Center has been established and donations may be made through the funeral home.
