Clyde C. “Poppy’’ Simmons, 97, of Lebanon was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Wright County to Joseph and Lois Pearce Simmons and died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, in Lebanon. He is survived by his wife Melba of the home; children, Lois Payne of Grovespring; Linda Payne and husband John of Lebanon; Inetta Davis and husband Dale of Grovespring; Don Andrews of Grovespring and Jim Andrews and his wife Bea of San Antonio, Texas; 124 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Clyde C. “Poppy’’ Simmons were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Tim Blankenship and Lonnie Nelson officiating. Burial was in McBride Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
