Dorothy J. McMackin, 87, of Lebanon, died Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Lebanon.

She was born March 23, 1937, in Lebanon, to Truman Edmund and Lucille Marion (Smith) Addison.

On Feb. 20, 1960, she was united in marriage to Harry “Jack” McMackin II in the Maplewood Christian Church.

Dorothy retired from the United States Postal Service and spent the remainder of her years traveling and spoiling all the branches of her family tree. She had visited all 50 states, and traveled the world as well. She was a member of the Sunbonnet Garden Club and also a dedicated member of the Red Hat Society for many years. She was active in Laclede County Historical Society, Laclede County Republican Women’s Group and Laclede County Genealogical Society.

She was a member of Phillipsburg Christian Church.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Jonathon Brent and wife Samantha, and only grandchild, Jackson McMackin, of St. Louis; Harry Jack (Jay) McMackin and wife Michele, of Allen, Texas; a brother, Junior Edmund Addison and wife Jan of O’Fallon; a host of cousins, as well as nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and a great-great-great niece and nephew. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but the memories she created for her family will be cherished by all, and carried throughout their families.

A memorial service for Dorothy J. McMackin will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. There is no burial scheduled. At her request, her body is to be cremated. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time, also on Saturday, June 15, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Memorials have been suggested to Cedarhurst of Lebanon or Integrity Hospice. Donations may be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, 1001 N. Lynn, or P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
