EMMA NEVA DRAHEIM

Emma Neva Draheim, 86, of Lebanon died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, in Lebanon.

She was born June 2, 1937, in Laclede County to Elmer and Emma Kathner Doing.

On May 31, 1959, she was united in marriage with Carl Donald Draheim.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Donald Draheim, who passed away April 8, 2021; brothers, Robert Doing and his wife Charlene, Herman Doing his wife Marian, Dave Doing and Delbert Doing and his wife Patti, her sisters, Nadine Barrett and her husband Tom and Maggie Massey, and sister-in-law and brother-in law, Nola and Bob Burns and brother-in-law, Newman Rolufs.

Neva graduated from Conway High School in 1955 and attended Missouri State Teacher’s College to receive her teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in Phillipsburg and continued teaching for several rural schools throughout the area. In 2001, she retired from Conway School System as a para teacher. She was fondly known to many students as “Miss Neva.’’

She has been a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years.

Neva is survived by her two daughters, Joy Gaines and her husband Rick of Conway, and Stephanie Brawley of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Kasey Buck (Daniel), Karly Zeman (Mac), Cole Gaines (Jessica), Gaven Brawley (Carrie), Grant Brawley (Brittany), Logan Brawley (Chelsea) and Kristen Holden (Tannor); nine great-grandchildren, Aleigha and Alivia Brawley, Chet Brawley (Hattie), Lincoln Brawley, Maddison and A.J. Zeman, Parker Buck, Andrew and Jack Carl Gaines and one on the way; sisters-in-law, Lela Doing of Lebanon and Dorothy Rolufs of Springfield; brother-in-law, Robert Draheim and his wife Kay of Marshfield; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear neighbors, friends, church family and special caregiver and bodyguard, Sharon Logan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Donald Draheim, who passed away April 8, 2021, brothers, Robert Doing and his wife Charlene, Herman Doing his wife Marian, Dave Doing and Delbert Doing and his wife Patti, her sisters, Nadine Barrett and her husband Tom and Maggie Massey, and sister-in-law and brother-in law, Nola and Bob Burns and brother-in-law, Newman Rolufs.

Funeral services for Neva Draheim will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor David Oberdieck and Pastor John Dautenhahn officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Community Chapel Cemetery. Visitation for Neva will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel in Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions in memory of Neva to Shepherd’s Pack Program, Ozark Community Chapel Cemetery, Kissee Cemetery or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
