FRANCES MAE McGEHEE

Frances Mae Hufft McGehee, 96, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on October 19, 2023. in Springfield, Missouri.

Visitation was at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W. Battlefield, Springfield, Mo. Burial followed at Lebanon Cemetery.

Frances was born in Groom, Texas, to Oscar and Clara Sandy on January 12, 1927. She attended school in Stoutland, Missouri. She married Rev. Dale Hufft June 27, 1965, he preceded her in death. In 1995 Frances married Andrew McGehee, he preceded her in death. She was a member of Women’s Circle at First Baptist Church in Richland, Missouri, where she was also active in choir. She loved horseback riding, reading, painting, and genealogy.

Frances was a traditional wife, homemaker, and she took great pride in rearing her children. She was a loving wife, best friend, and working partner with Dale and later Andy.

Frances is preceded in death by Rev. Dale Hufft, Andrew McGehee, Oscar and Clara Sandy (parents), Beverly Cole (daughter), Gene Cole (son), Ruth Brown (sister), Eula Smith (sister), Verla Sandy (sister), Max Sandy (brother) and Lonnie Brown (brother-in-law).

Frances is survived by daughters Melva Cole and Twila Hillme (Dwayne); grandsons Ryan Cole (Jenna) and David Cole; great-grandchildren, Hollis Cole, Chaise Cole, Alex Fox and Megan Fox; great-great grandchild, Catie Jane; stepchildren, Mark McGehee, Ann McCormick, Susan McGehee and Sandra Rayls and numerous nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Troy York, Nathan Posten, Blake Payne, Greg Warren, Bruce Warren, Roy Mitschele, and Jerry Laughlin.

The family would also like to thank the wonderful nursing staff on floor 7E at Mercy Hospital that took care of Frances.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
